Their brand-new dual-fuel PCTC Arctic Tern – the first of 14 Shaper Class vessels ordered by Wallenius Wilhelmsen – took on 2,824 metric tonnes of green methanol at Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port Area. Not just any methanol. Locally produced green methanol, made right there in Shanghai from municipal solid waste.

This operation ticked a lot of boxes. It was EUKOR's first green methanol bunkering ever. It was the Arctic Tern's first methanol top-up since she was delivered on July 9. And crucially, it was the first time an international pure car and truck carrier operator received locally produced green methanol at the Port of Shanghai.

The fuel itself is ISCC-EU certified, with a carbon intensity below 25 gCO₂e/MJ. That's a meaningful step toward cutting lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions from maritime transport. And the operation was a genuine collaboration – World Fuel handled the procurement and delivery, SIPG Energy's dedicated methanol bunkering vessel Hai Gang Zhi Yuan did the physical transfer, and cargo handling kept running simultaneously throughout.
